Waiting

I admire all homeschooling families, I really do. I think it's truly honorable to go against the mainstream in the best interest of a child and home educate. And I gave it a good shot.

That being said, my children are officially on a wait list for our parish school for next fall. If they two big kids do get in on an opening and we can make the financial end work, they will be going "back to school".

I know that leaving the house for school will add even more chaos to our lives but I truly miss the experience it offered. The teacher in me misses school days. And who knows what will happen. If school doesn't work out, I can always bring them back home. I don't sound like I'm trying to justify myself, do I??

well, if you are indeed having to justify yourself then perhaps you are making a decision you dont really want to? just a thought~you know i could give 2 hoots either way (not saying that meanly but saying i am not trying to talk you into anything, school or home).

Dear Heather,

I checked your blog today with the intention of leaving a comment after reading and admiring your photos and your children for about a year now. We are also transplants to the Seattle area, so I feel a certain kinship with you. I was very interested in homeschooling and have close friends who do (in California), but unlike you, I am not a natural teacher. I enjoy being a part of our parish school (unfortunately, we're on Bainbridge, or I'd say "Come on over and join us!"). It sounds like you're torn, and for good reason--the days my kids are home sick are some of my favorites. It's great that you still have time to weigh your decision. I hope you find peace with whichever decision you make! Elizabeth

Just remember that different things work at different times in our lives. I admire every decision you make and know that you are doing what is best for your family. There is nothing wrong with trying many new adventures along the way. And there is nothing that says you can't return to an adventure at a later date :)
